Quantum of what?

Quantum of Solace is not a Bond film. Well, not in a conventional sense at least. There's no "Bond, James Bond," no "shaken, not stirred," very limited quantities of PG-13 sex, and the film's title? What the hell is that? But that's not to say the film itself is bad. In fact, it's pretty good. It's simply missing some of the classic Bond elements that will undoubtedly disappoint 007 purists.

Since their inception in 1990, The Breeders have gone from side project to main attraction. Conceived as a venture for Pixies bassist Kim Deal and Throwing Muses guitarist Tanya Donnelly, the band has since evolved to be Kim Deal's main focus.

Their debut album, Pod, stole the thunder from both the Pixies' Bossa Nova and Throwing Muses' Hunkpapa (the albums their "main" bands released around the same time). In 1992, the band opened for Nirvana on their tour of Europe.

With the Siren Nation Festival still warm in our minds we have been given an early Christmas present in the Hotel Cafe Tour. Not traditionally an exclusively women's tour, Hotel Cafe, now on its fourth year, has in the past included Aqualung, Tom Morello, Perry Farrell, Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, Ray Lamontagne, Rilo Kiley and even that infamous John Mayer.
